Moroccan Students to Receive Delayed Scholarships Amid COVID-19 Disruptions

Covid-19 obliges, the 2020/2021 university year has seen some changes. Moroccan students, used to a "normal" enrollment process, are facing several difficulties, including the delay in the payment of their scholarship.
The discontent continues to rise in the ranks of students, usually paid in mid-September, but who are still waiting to receive the 1,900 dirhams granted to them by the State every quarter and which allow them to cover a small part of their expenses. To this are added the continuous closure of residential spaces, as well as that of the canteens which allowed students to spend less, reports Hespress.
The school and university year, which started two months ago, is compromised by several problems, including the debate on face-to-face and distance learning, linked to the financial resources necessary to facilitate this operation in the midst of a pandemic.
The director of the National Office of Social and Cultural Work of Higher Education, in charge of the disbursement of grants, Nouredine Thami, indicated that the date of payment of the first part of the scholarship to students has been set for December 15, noting "that none of the university establishments has submitted the students’ grades and data, in order to determine the scholarship holders and those whose scholarship has expired".
In this regard, many students have reported difficulties in obtaining the administrative documents necessary to constitute their files, in order to benefit from the scholarship.
