Morocco Seeks Peaceful Resolution to Western Sahara Dispute, Asserts Territorial Rights

Morocco no longer wants to linger on the crisis in the Sahara. Once again, the kingdom says it is seeking a peaceful solution, while claiming its "legitimate rights" over this disputed territory.
At a time when tensions are high with Algeria, Morocco has displayed a pacifist position for a return to dialogue on the Sahara issue.
According to Nasser Bourita, quoted by Belga, Morocco is determined to find a solution to the "artificial regional conflict that stems from the opposition of a neighboring state (Algeria) to its legitimate rights to the consumption of its territorial integrity". But, "Morocco does not negotiate the "Moroccanness" of the (Western) Sahara nor its rights," he insisted.
Without indicating that it is letting go of its rights over the territory, the kingdom has assured that it wants to "definitively turn the page" on the conflict related to the Western Sahara.
Recently, King Mohammed VI stressed the need to find "a peaceful settlement" to the conflict and reaffirmed "Morocco’s commitment to the political process led by the UN".
