Morocco Secures Spots in Three Major International Culinary Competitions

Morocco is selected for the finals of three culinary competitions, namely the Bocuse d’Or, the World Pastry Cup, and the World Catering Cup, during the prestigious Sirha Show scheduled in Lyon from January 23 to 27.

Moroccan teams will participate in the world finals of the Bocuse d’Or, the World Pastry Cup, and the World Catering Cup. They have secured their ticket for the final phase of these competitions following the Official Chefs Tournament (TOC Africa), held on September 12 and 13 in Marrakech. Through this performance, they "demonstrate the excellence and innovation of their know-how on the international stage," it is noted in a press release.

The Moroccan team composed of chef Yassine Bogdad, assisted by Youssef Lamghani, and coached by Ahmed Bem Semlali, will defend the colors of the kingdom in the final of the Bocuse d’Or, a competition that brings together the greatest chefs in the world every two years. Under the coordination of Kamal Rahal Essoulami, member of the jury, president of the Moroccan teams and ambassador of the World Pastry Cup, it will strive to showcase the rich Moroccan gastronomy, combining creativity and technicality. In total, 24 countries will participate in this final.

Morocco will be represented in the final of the World Pastry Cup by Rachid Ouakkas, member of the Jury, Omar Eddib, specialist in sweet creations, Mohamed El Yazidi, chocolate specialist, and Mohamed Lamraoui, specialist in frozen works. The Moroccan team will compete with imagination to propose new creations and unique pieces inspired by the theme "National Heritage". This year, 18 countries will participate in the final of this competition that brings together the best pastry chefs in the world.

Regarding the final of the World Catering Cup which will take place on January 23, it will see the participation of the Moroccan team composed of Mohamed fadil Ouahhabi, Lahoucine Zaoui and Lahcen Idouakrim. It will offer refined buffets, dishes and desserts, highlighting the values of hospitality and conviviality dear to Moroccan culture. The competition is organized every two years. This year, it brings together 12 teams from the five continents.
