Morocco: School Bus Driver Assaults Teen for Eating During Ramadan, Sparks Outrage

A human rights defense association in Ouazzane has protested against an act of violence perpetrated by a school bus driver against a 14-year-old girl who was eating on the bus during Ramadan.
Last Friday, a 14-year-old student was verbally and physically assaulted by a school bus driver because she was eating inside the school bus, in broad daylight and during Ramadan. This happened on the way back.
The Moroccan League for the Defense of Human Rights in Ouazzane does not intend to stop there, according to Alyaoum24. Especially since this entity claims, in a statement, that the young girl had "legitimate" reasons not to fast.
This is something that everyone can understand. Illnesses, travels, menstruation,... are all legitimate reasons for a Muslim not to fast. But it seems the driver has his own firm views on the matter.
Furthermore, the league states that the driver not only beat the young girl, but also began to spread among her classmates the theory that his victim is an atheist. According to the statement: "this has caused many of her classmates to break off all social ties with her. This student is currently in an extremely difficult psychological situation."
A complaint has been filed by the victim’s family with the gendarmerie and its elements have gathered the testimonies of all the people concerned.
