Morocco’s Romain Saïss Reflects on ’Fantastic’ Experience as National Team Captain

The latest player to have worn the captain’s armband during a well-negotiated match by the Atlas Lions, Romain Saïss has returned to this "fantastic" experience.
"It was fantastic for me. I was really proud to be captain. I know it’s a lot of responsibility, fortunately for me, we won the match. So it was good for me to be the first," he testified.
Even if this experience seems to be of short duration, Saiss seems to have lived it passionately. He hopes to be able to continue this adventure for greater victories, reports Hespress.
At 29, the central defender of Wolverhampton is ready to take up the challenge of qualification in this position with his teammates and under the technical direction of coach Vahid Halilhodzic. "The most important thing is the team with the new coach. Many players are now retiring, a new coach has arrived, so we have to build together," he adds.
This decision to have them wear the armband for the duration of a match began with the departure of Medhi Benatia from the national team. Since then, Vahid Halilhodzic continues to test his players in order to be able to decide which one is the most legitimate to bear this heavy responsibility, specifies the same media. Thus, many Lions have gone through the exercise: Nabil Dirar, Adel Taarabt, Yunis Abdelhamid, Hakim Ziyech and recently Romain Saiss, it is specified.
