Morocco Rises in Global Terrorism Index, Ranks Among Least Impacted Nations

Morocco is ranked this year in 76th place out of 93 in the global terrorism index published a few days ago.
With an overall score of 1.156, the kingdom improves its position by two ranks compared to the previous year, thus consolidating its place in the short list of countries that have developed an effective mechanism to deal with the terrorist threat.
Published by the United Nations Office for Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), the index ranks countries from "most impacted by terrorism" to "least impacted". Experts take into account indicators such as: the number of terrorist incidents, deaths, injuries and property damage.
In the MENA region, the kingdom occupies the 15th place. Iran takes the first place in the regional ranking, followed by Syria and Egypt, respectively 5th and 15th globally.
Internationally, Afghanistan tops the list of countries most affected by terrorism. Next come Iraq, Somalia, Burkina Faso, Syria and Nigeria.
