Morocco Revives Plans for Marrakech Highway Bypass Project

Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water, is reviving the project for the eastern highway bypass of the city of Marrakech.
The Ministry of Equipment and Water is working on updating the definition study of the eastern highway bypass of the city of Marrakech for a budget of 3 million dirhams. This study, with an execution time of six months, will focus on preliminary and definition studies, as well as a traffic and operation study, according to Médias24.
It is the examination of the existing transport offer around the ochre city that has shown the need to create this bypass, says the department of Nizar Baraka, specifying that it will have to connect the A3 motorway to the RN7, intercepting the RN8 leading to Béni Mellal, the RN9 going to Ouarzazate and the RP2017 leading to the Ourika, with the main objective of significantly shortening the distance and travel time for users to the different destinations.
The bypass will have to intercept the future Marrakech-Beni Mellal motorway and will allow traffic from the North to reach the cities of Kelaa des Sraghna and Béni Mellal by bypassing the ochre city. This link should also provide direct access to the RN8, RN9 and RN7 from the North of the city of Marrakech. This will significantly shorten travel time.
