Morocco Reports Decline in Urban Traffic Accidents, 6 Fatalities Last Week

326 traffic accidents were recorded in urban areas in the week of April 13 to 19, 2020. There were also several deaths and injuries, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
Six dead and 410 injured, including 20 seriously. This is the toll of traffic accidents that occurred in urban areas last week. Failure to yield the right of way, speeding, failure to maintain a safe distance, defective overtaking, failure to comply with traffic lights and driving in the wrong direction are among the causes of these many accidents recorded, said a statement from the DGSN on Tuesday.
The statement also indicates that the security services, during the control and repression operations of offenses, recorded 2,813 violations. Similarly, 1,124 reports were drawn up and submitted to the public prosecutor’s office. 1,689 transactional fines were also collected.
The DGSN reports that 360,225 dirhams were collected and 546 vehicles were impounded. In addition, 565 documents were seized and 13 vehicles were removed from circulation during the same period.
