Morocco Traffic Accidents: 7 Dead, Nearly 1,000 Injured in One Week

728 accidents occurred in urban areas during the period from June 1 to 7, 2020. The report shows 7 deaths, 928 injuries, including 45 seriously.
The causes of these accidents are multiple. According to the DGSN, they are mainly due to failure to give priority, driver inattention, lane change without using a signal, speeding, pedestrian inattention, and failure to maintain a safe distance.
They are also caused by failure to stop, loss of control, driving in the left lane, unauthorized lane change, failure to obey traffic lights, driving in the wrong direction, and improper overtaking.
As for control and repression operations, 17,399 tickets were recorded against 7,046 reports submitted to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. According to the same source, 10,353 transaction fines were collected.
In total, 2,049,475 dirhams were collected for the municipal impoundment of 3,940 vehicles, the seizure of 2,804 documents and the withdrawal from circulation of 302 vehicles.
