Morocco Reports 287 Imams Test Positive for COVID-19 Amid Ongoing Pandemic

Before the House of Representatives, the Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, reported on the religious leaders affected by the coronavirus since the beginning of the epidemic.

It appears that 287 imams across the kingdom have tested positive for Covid-19. The minister specified that these infections were recorded among the imams, who number more than 60,000 officiating in places of worship. As a precaution, Koranic schools will remain closed until the end of the epidemic, he added.

The coronavirus continues to rage in Morocco. As of November 23, 2020, the report shows 327,528 cases of contamination, 5,396 deaths and 275,158 recoveries.
