Morocco to Relax COVID-19 Restrictions in Four Cities as They Move to Zone 1

Considered a less sensitive area with a fairly well-controlled epidemiological situation, zone 1 benefits from relaxed measures of the state of health emergency. Four Moroccan cities will soon be reclassified and will be able to join this zone.

The Moroccan prefectures and provinces have been classified into two distinct zones after three months of strict lockdown. While in zone 2, which accounts for more than 60% of GDP and has more cases of infection, the limitations are more restrictive, they are more relaxed in zone 2 which has very few cases of contamination. The government had announced on June 11 that the zones will be reclassified once a week according to several criteria defined by the health authorities.

After being classified in Zone 2 a few days ago, Rabat, Skhirate, Témara and El Jadida are about to regain zone 1 in view of their more or less controlled epidemiological situation over the days.

Thus, the inhabitants of these 4 provinces could soon benefit from relaxed conditions of the state of emergency and leave their homes without the famous exceptional travel authorization, do individual outdoor sports activities. They will also be allowed to open some businesses, including beauty salons and hairdressers.
