Morocco to Receive $800,000 Bonus Despite Early CAN 2023 Exit

Eliminated in the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, the Moroccan football team will nevertheless receive a bonus from the Confederation of African Football.
The Moroccan national football team will receive a bonus of $800,000 for its participation in the Africa Cup of Nations. This bonus is awarded to them following their qualification for the round of 16 of the competition. Morocco was eliminated by South Africa, who won 2-0 in the match last Tuesday.
The winning team will receive a check for $7 million from CAF, an increase of 40% compared to the previous edition held in Cameroon in 2021. The second finalist team will receive $4 million. The semi-finalist teams will each receive $2.5 million.
"We have increased the prize for the CAN winner to $7,000,000, an increase of 40% compared to the previous edition. I am convinced that part of this sum will contribute to the evolution of football and benefit all the actors of the sport, while supporting our member associations in their administrative approaches," said Patrice Motsepe, President of CAF, in a press release.
