Morocco Real Estate Aid: MREs Claim 24% of Subsidies

During an intervention at the House of Advisors on May 12, 2026, the State Secretary for Housing presented the assessment of this financial mechanism. Adib Benbrahim specified that as of May 7, more than 101,000 people with modest or intermediate incomes had realized their real estate projects.

Moroccans residing abroad stand out particularly in these statistics by constituting 24% of validated profiles. Generally speaking, out of 263,000 registered requests, the funds benefit mainly the middle class, which represents 60% of beneficiaries. Young people under forty years old (52%) and women (47%) also form a significant share of buyers.

This reform breaks with the old system that targeted developers to favor the direct payment of aid to future owners, leaving them complete freedom in choosing their property. The procedures are carried out on a transparent online portal, delivering an eligibility certificate in less than seven days using an identity card.

On the economic front, the momentum is strong with a global purchase value exceeding 41 billion dirhams, of which approximately 8 billion is covered by the State. The volume of subsidized housing thus reached 99,000 units in 2025, a decisive lever to permanently eradicate slums as part of the current five-year plan.
