Morocco Ranks 9th Globally in Climate Change Performance Index

Morocco ranks in the Top 10 of countries that have made significant investments in climate change and renewable energy, according to the Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI).
Morocco ranks ninth in this ranking carried out by "Germanwatch", in collaboration with the "Climate Action Network" and the "New Climate Institute", far ahead of Spain which is in eighteenth place. Denmark tops this list (4th place). It is followed by Estonia, the Philippines and India.
According to the authors of the ranking, no country has achieved better performance in all categories to occupy the top three ranks, which have therefore remained empty. "The rankings are based on the overall score of each country. This is calculated from the individual scores in four categories, composed of 14 indicators," they explain.
"The results show that even if all countries were as committed as the current leaders, the efforts would still be insufficient to prevent dangerous climate change," add the authors, who call on governments to "redouble their efforts to put the world on the right track and keep global warming well below a 2°C increase. Even better, 1.5°C."
