Morocco Ranks 2nd in Africa, 39th Globally in ’Best Countries’ Quality of Life Survey

Morocco is featured in the global "Best Countries Rankings 2024" established by an American magazine.
The kingdom ranks 2nd in the ranking of African countries in terms of quality of life, "Best Countries Rankings 2024", established by the American magazine U.S. News & World Report. With a score of 31.9 out of 100, the kingdom ranks 39th globally. Egypt tops the African ranking (35th globally). South Africa (40th global rank) closes the podium on the continent.
To compile its ranking, US News & World Report conducted a survey over nearly three months with more than 17,000 people from around the world. This ranking evaluates 89 countries across various criteria, such as access to food, housing, quality education, healthcare or employment, security, political stability or individual freedoms.
"Morocco is known for its cuisine, which is admired and imitated around the world. The country’s chefs make abundant use of spices and local ingredients like saffron, mint and olives. Couscous is Morocco’s main dish, and skewers, soups and salads are often served. Harira, a thick lamb soup served with dates, is a national specialty served during Ramadan. Bread is a big part of every meal and is often accompanied by mint tea, the national drink," comments U.S. News & World Report.
"Despite Morocco’s economic progress, high unemployment, poverty and illiteracy continue to affect the country," laments the American magazine, noting that "human rights groups have expressed concerns about ongoing restrictions on freedom of expression."
