Morocco Ramps Up Mask Production, Eyes European Export Market

The Minister of Industry, Moulay Hafid Elalamy, stated, during his appearance on Al Oula, that Morocco will soon export its masks to Europe. A commercial ambition that is part of the national strategy for the production and distribution of protective masks.
"Since the beginning of the crisis, the instructions of His Majesty have been to assess the capacity of our industrialists to produce these masks to support the health sector. [...] It has been a week since we started producing masks, and we have started supplying them to the Ministry of Health and the law enforcement authorities," said MHE. According to him, Morocco is now producing 3 million mask units per day and plans to soon reach 5 million per day.
"In two days, we have distributed 5.3 million masks in specialized supermarkets (GMS) and grocery stores. [...] We have established a partnership with two dairy distributors. Today, we already cover 66,000 points of sale and by the end of the week, we will cover all the points of sale. The price is regulated by royal decree: it will remain at 0.8 dirhams," the minister specifies.
Furthermore, Moulay Hafid Elalamy assures that he has contacts with major European countries asking him to export masks to them and that he will do so, since the needs of the Moroccan market will soon be met. "We will soon export Moroccan masks to Europe," he said.
