Morocco Begins Exporting Reusable Face Masks to European Countries

Morocco has achieved self-sufficiency with its reusable masks. Since May 10, it has been exporting the surplus to Europe.
While the major world powers are engaged in a real "covert and fierce war" to seize the precious protective masks, Morocco has opted to export its masks, reports the EFE news agency.
According to the same media, the kingdom has started exporting its reusable protective masks to Spain, France, Italy and Germany, thanks to a textile sector that has been able to adapt to the global coronavirus crisis in record time.
According to the Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Trade, 16 companies based in Morocco are selling their production in countries that have already started the deconfinement phase. For the minister, the conversion of the factories has relatively mitigated the crisis in the textile sector, which suffered an 86% drop in its exports in April (compared to April 2019).
Before obtaining authorization to export their masks to other countries, these companies must demonstrate that they are selling half of their production on the Moroccan market, where wearing a mask is mandatory, it is indicated. In total, 40 textile factories in Morocco produce ten million disposable masks per day, as well as 73 other units and cooperatives that manufacture washable and reusable masks.
