Morocco Raises Cigarette Prices: Local Brands See Up to 4 Dirham Increase

As of this Saturday, January 1, 2022, the prices of manufactured tobacco products in Morocco will increase, according to the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration (ADII).
Smoking will cost Moroccans more this new year. According to the note made public by the ADII, these are the brands manufactured in Morocco. Some will see their prices increase by up to 4 dirhams, which will not be the case for international brands.
In its note, the ADII explained that this upward revision of cigarette prices in Morocco was decided by the members of the tobacco product price approval commission, during a meeting held on December 14 and 15 last.
Tobacco prices are expected to rise in the coming years, as the 2022 Finance Act has provided for a progression in tobacco taxation from 2022 to 2026.
