Morocco’s Rabat Region Sees Sharp Spike in COVID-19 Cases, 84 New Infections Reported

Infections are on the rise again in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region since May 4. They stood at 22 cases on that Monday and rose to 84 confirmed cases this Wednesday, May 6.
With these 84 new cases in 24 hours, the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region now has a total of 537 cases. It is followed by Casablanca-Settat, the epicenter of the pandemic in Morocco (1,405) with 43 new cases, Fès-Meknès (685) with 20 new infections, Marrakech-Safi (1,103) and Béni Mellal-Khénifra (87) after the identification of 2 new people testing positive for covid-19. Then comes the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, which now has 41 cases, or 2 new cases.
As for the regions of Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma (740), Souss-Massa (52), the Oriental (175), Drâa-Tafilalet (551), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (4) and Dakhla Oued Deheb (2), they have not recorded any new cases of contamination since the last report.
Furthermore, the new cases of contamination stood at 163 while the cases of recovery continue to evolve (1,969). As for the cases of death, they rose to 182 cases.
