Morocco’s Prime Minister Rejects State Involvement in Bab Darna Real Estate Scandal

On the occasion of the monthly parliamentary session of oral questions, the Head of Government, Saâdeddine El Othmani, expressed the refusal of any involvement of the State in the Bab Darna affair.
"I am sorry to announce that the Bab Darna file, currently being examined by the justice system, does not comply with the law, has no connection with the public authorities, nor with a member of the government," specified the head of the executive.
El Othmani wanted to clarify his point of view, adding that "the sale contract for a property under construction must imperatively include the building permit. An important document that was missing in this case".
Otherwise, the victims of Bab Darna, who were supposed to know the law, had signed the purchase contract even though they were aware of the lack of a building permit. Only justice will be able to establish the responsibilities of each party in this case.
