Morocco Plans New High-Speed Rail Station in Rabat for Kenitra-Marrakech Line

In view of the launch of the new high-speed rail line that is to connect Kenitra to Marrakech before 2030, a new station should be built in Rabat. Here are the details.

The National Railway Office (ONCF) is making progress on its high-speed rail (LGV) project Kenitra-Marrakech. This extension requires significant investments, particularly for the construction of a new station in Rabat in the Hay Riad district.

The ONCF has recently launched a call for tenders for the technical control of the studies and works related to the future Hay Riad station. According to the plans, this station will take the form of a bridge-building that will span the railway tracks, connecting the Annakhil and Hassan II avenues. This project is not limited to the construction of a passage place, but aims to create a multi-functional space with facilities for travelers, parking lots, platforms and commercial spaces, indicates la Vie éco.

The design of the Hay Riad station is planned on several levels for optimized use of space. The ground floor will have two main blocks, one on each side of the avenues, with a mezzanine and an upper floor forming the bridge-building. In addition, two underground parking lots are planned on either side, connected by a passage under the railway tracks. The development also includes modernized platforms and outdoor spaces, contributing to a better experience for travelers and an aesthetic integration into the urban fabric.
