Morocco Plans $400 Million Investment in New Suburban Rail Network

The Moroccan government wants to invest nearly 4.2 billion dirhams as part of the launch of its suburban rail network.
This news was made public by the head of the local government of Valencia, during his stay in Morocco. At the head of a delegation of Spanish companies operating in the tourism, construction, rail, logistics and food industries to prospect for business opportunities and strengthen bilateral economic relations between Morocco and the southeast region of Spain, Governor Ximo Puig held several meetings with Moroccan company executives.
Ximo Puig also gave his approval for the realization of this ambitious project, said the Spanish press agency, EFE. This network of trains called "Cercanias" in Spain, is made up of high-speed trains crossing short and medium distances.
For this project, the Generalitat of Catalonia, the political organization of the autonomous community of Catalonia in Spain, has been selected to submit the bid as part of a public-private partnership.
As for the private structures, Stadler, specialized in the manufacture of trains, and Vectalia, specialized in the management of public transport, they will also participate in the realization of this project. These are structures that are experienced in the field. This is the case of Vectalia, which already manages the bus fleets of Nador and Safi.
