Morocco Overhauls University Hiring Process for Doctoral Graduates

Morocco no longer wants to directly recruit doctorate holders through universities. They will be identified thanks to a national commission.
The Minister of National Education, Saaïd Amzazi, said that the staff of his ministry are reflecting on the feasibility of this project, reports L’Economiste. According to the government spokesperson, the staff of his ministry are currently working on a new status for higher education staff, in partnership with the sector’s unions.
A few weeks ago, the government had announced the direct recruitment of 4,300 holders of the Doctorate and the Master’s degree. This measure aims to solve a problem that has lasted too long and which is a legacy of the 1990s.
