Morocco Opposition Leader Slams Religious Exploitation in Politics

Nabila Mounib denounces the exploitation of religion for political purposes. In a barely veiled speech, she accuses the Party of Justice and Development (PJD) of using religion to win voters’ votes.
The Secretary General of the Unified Socialist Party (PSU) attacked the PJD on Thursday in Casablanca. It was during a meeting at the Higher Institute of Journalism and Communication. "Some say they have an Islamic frame of reference. We all have an Islamic frame of reference, but the latter have introduced religion into politics and exploited it to attract people’s votes," she said.
The Secretary General launched into a real indictment. She stated that "several parties present an electoral program that disappears once elected. This explains why the citizen feels increasingly betrayed and manipulated."
She also denounced the lack of accountability that allows some to arrogate the wealth intended for an entire people.
