Morocco's ONCF Awards French Firm Egis Contract for High-Speed Rail Project Oversight

The National Railway Office of Morocco (ONCF) has provided clarifications regarding the award of the project management assistance for the external control of the LGV Kenitra-Marrakech line, approximately 450 km long, to the French company Egis.

ONCF is trying to put an end to the confusion surrounding the award of the project management assistance for the external control of the LGV Kenitra-Marrakech line. "Capitalizing on the first Moroccan high-speed rail project, the realization of which has seen a significant local integration rate, Moroccan engineering remains the leader in the studies subject to the call for tenders" launched, ONCF assured, which was won by the "Egis-Rail Maroc/France" company. It covers the external control services for the preliminary design (APS), detailed design and project (APD-PRO) studies of infrastructure, civil engineering, structures and earthworks necessary to increase the rail capacity between Kenitra and Marrakech and at the Casablanca hub.

"The call for tenders in question covered the external control of the studies of the three lots relating to the Kenitra-Aïn Sebaa, Aïn Sebaa-Nouaceur and Nouaceur-Marrakech sections, awarded at the beginning of this year to Moroccan firms in a consortium with French and/or Korean firms (Groupings: Novec/Ingerop, Setec Maroc/Setec Ferroviaire/Setec International/Setec TPI, and CID/Dohwa Engineering CO, LTD/Korea National Railway)," ONCF specified.

According to the Office, this call for tenders concerns the analysis of the functionalities of the Kenitra-Marrakech project, the verification of the fundamental requirements of the project (functionalities, operational safety, maintainability, durability, investment cost...), as well as the verification of the functional programs of the stations and terminal facilities, including operating constraints.
