Morocco’s Olympic Soccer Team Aims for Historic Run in Tough Paris 2024 Group

The Moroccan Olympic national football team aims to shine at the Paris Olympics and reach the first round of the competition, said coach Tarik Sektioui on Thursday.
At a press conference at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, Sektioui presented the list of players selected for the Olympics and highlighted the team’s determination to achieve a historic performance.
Aware of the difficulty of Morocco’s group, which includes Argentina, Ukraine and Iraq, the coach stressed the need to aim for victory in each match to progress in the competition.
The team’s preparation has been marked by challenges, including the refusal of some clubs to release their players due to the absence of a FIFA date, he said. Despite these obstacles, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and the technical staff have worked tirelessly to build a competitive squad.
Similarly, the injuries of certain players have also complicated the coach’s task, who had to adapt his tactical plans accordingly, revealing that the team had chosen to conduct its preparations away from the media to preserve the element of surprise, a strategy adopted by several other teams.
The training camps have helped strengthen the group’s cohesion and refine the technical and tactical aspects.
Morocco will start its Olympic journey on July 24 by facing Argentina at the Geoffroy Guichard stadium in Saint-Étienne.
