Morocco’s Olympic Soccer Hopes Face Setback as Key Player Misses Training Camp

The Moroccan Olympic team is preparing for the Paris Olympic Games, without Abdessamad Ezzalzouli who is participating from July 10 to 20 with his club, Real Betis, in a training camp in Austria.
The coach of the Moroccan Olympic team, Tarik Sektioui, is counting on Ezzalzouli to make the difference during the Paris Olympics, which will take place from July 26 to August 11. But the Real Betis striker is currently absent from the gathering at the Mohammed VI Center in Maâmora due to a trip to Austria with his club.
The Moroccan international will only be available after July 20, just in time to join the Moroccan Olympic team for a preparation camp in Lyon and a match against Argentina on July 24 in Saint-Étienne.
Ezzalzouli’s late arrival risks disrupting Sektioui’s plans and affecting the Olympic team’s preparations for the Paris Olympics. This delay in the Real Betis striker joining the Olympic team places the Moroccan coach in an uncomfortable position, as he has already expressed his dissatisfaction with the refusal of some clubs to release their Moroccan players so that they can participate in this tournament.
Sektioui was counting on the participation of players like Brahim Diaz from Real Madrid, Chadi Riad from Crystal Palace, and Ismaël Saibari from PSV Eindhoven. But their clubs have categorically refused. Morocco shares Group B with Argentina, Ukraine and Iraq. A group considered difficult.
