Morocco’s Olive Oil Exports Surge 47%, Doubling Volume Amid Strong Global Demand

The volume of Moroccan olive oil exports has doubled compared to 2021, reaching 13,200 tons in volume by the end of August and 456 million dirhams in value, an increase of 47%.
"Olive oil exports are recording good performance during the year 2022, mainly due to strong demand in the main international markets," said the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests in a press release, noting that this increase concerns the main destination markets and in particular that of the European Union (3.2 times in volume and 3.6 times in value).
Exports of olive pomace oil have also increased considerably during the same period, reaching a volume of 13,100 tons (x,4) and a value of 212 MDH (x3.5). For the 2021-2022 season, 1.96 million tons of olives are expected, an increase of 21% compared to the previous season.
