Morocco’s National Security Boosts Police Force: Nearly 10,000 Officers Promoted in 2020

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) promoted 9,949 police officers, of all corps and ranks, for the 2020 fiscal year. This workforce represents 87% of the total budgetary positions dedicated to national security.
In a statement, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) recalled that the number of beneficiaries has increased by 2,093 agents in 2020, an increase of 28.26% compared to 2019. In detail, 7,204 uniformed police officers and 2,295 in civilian clothes benefited from this promotion.
According to the DGSN, particular attention was paid to lower-ranking officers. The beneficiary rate for this category of uniformed officers exceeded 99% and stood at 89.59% of the number of beneficiaries in civilian dress.
The same source specifies that these promotions were made in a context marked by the adoption of the new status of DGSN officials. It guarantees them many administrative and financial incentives, including in particular the reduction of the number of years required to benefit from advancement by choice.
In addition, a new performance evaluation charter for officials has been developed. It allows for their annual assessment thanks to criteria of competence, merit and professional performance.
