Moroccan Police Chief Posthumously Promotes Officer Killed in Line of Duty

As a sign of recognition for his merits, the Director General of National Security has decided to grant an exceptional promotion to police sergeant Mohammed Benjaouad, who died on Friday, January 8, while on duty.
The police officer in question was stationed at a traffic control point and suffered serious injuries due to the fault of a road user who drove at excessive speed.
In a statement, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicated on Saturday that the head of the police institution has decided to promote the deceased, who served in the urban corps under the Yaacoub Al Mansour security district of the Rabat police prefecture. He was exceptionally promoted to the rank of Peace Officer, in accordance with the special provisions of the status of National Security personnel. A posthumous distinction in recognition of his selflessness and great sacrifices.
In addition to this exceptional promotion, the Director of the DGSN has asked the security services in charge of human resources and social welfare to cover the funeral expenses and provide all necessary assistance to the family of the deceased. He then presented his heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased, as well as to his comrades-in-arms of the National Security, and implores the Almighty to grant them patience and comfort, concluded the same source.
