Moroccan Security Agencies File Defamation Complaint Against Overseas Critics

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) and the General Directorate of Studies and Documentation (DGED) have just filed a complaint against individuals residing abroad.
In a joint press release, the three institutions of the kingdom indicated that they had referred the case to the public prosecutor’s office at the court of first instance in Rabat for "insulting public officials in the performance of their duties" and "insulting the constituted bodies", as well as for "slanderous denunciation", "fictitious crimes" and "dissemination of false allegations and facts" and finally for "defamation".
The institutions also reserve the right to take legal action against these accused persons in order to ensure the "Protection of the State" for the security officials, victims of verbal attacks and acts of defamation and insult committed by the denounced persons in the exercise of their duties.
