Morocco Mobilizes Veterinarians for Eid al-Adha Animal Health Checks

As every year, and on the eve of the Eid al-Adha festival, public and private veterinarians are mobilizing to set up a system of veterinary health supervision of authorized sales points, as well as approved slaughter facilities.

Aware of their roles in protecting public health on the one hand and the national livestock on the other, these veterinarians are actively working to maintain the health status of small ruminants at a very satisfactory level, according to a statement from the National Order of Veterinarians.

This involves the health supervision of livestock of animals intended for consumption and the encouragement of breeders to massively join the operation of registration and identification of sheep and goats intended for slaughter on the day of Eid.

At the same time, all veterinarians, who are daily responsible for the health and quality control of slaughtering in the various slaughterhouses of the Kingdom, will be mobilized to ensure the permanence established by the veterinary services during the Eid days in order to respond to calls from citizens and their questions in order to guarantee better conditions for the celebration of this religious festival.

"Veterinarians will be on duty for the two days of Eid. Citizens can call them for advice, complaints or questions and if necessary, they can be accompanied by a veterinarian on site," explains the note from the Order.

Furthermore, the National Order of Veterinarians reiterates its call to the latter to respect the health advice relating to the purchase and sacrifice of the animal, slaughter, carcass cutting and meat preservation.
