Morocco Prepares 7 Million Livestock for Eid Al-Adha Celebration

As part of the preparations for the celebration of Eid Al-Adha, the National Office of Sanitary Safety of Food Products (ONSSA) announced that as of May 16, more than 3 million sheep and goats have been identified.
According to the office, the identification operation should concern 7 million sheep and goats, as was the case in 2021. In addition to identifying sheep and goats, ONSSA has also decided to strengthen, control and monitor the preparations for Eid Al-Adha, especially with regard to the quality of drinking water, animal feed, and the medicines used at the level of farms and fattening units.
"The health situation of the national herd is good and [...] closely and continuously monitored by the veterinary services of ONSSA throughout the national territory, in close collaboration with the mandated veterinary surgeons and the local authorities," the Office said.
It also specified that the vaccination operation of the national herd has made it possible to immunize 1,716,235 cattle against foot-and-mouth disease and 16,102,681 sheep against sheep pox and small ruminant plague (PPR) as well as 3,606,627 goats against PPR.
