US-Morocco Military Exercise ’African Lion 2022’ Enters Final Planning Stage

The General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) of the Southern Zone is hosting the final planning meeting for Exercise African Lion 2022, with the participation of representatives from several countries, in addition to Morocco and the United States.
In accordance with the royal instructions, this meeting aims to finalize the modalities for the execution of the various activities of this Moroccan-American combined exercise. The objective is to develop interoperability and strengthen intervention capabilities in a multinational framework, indicates a press release from the General Staff of the FAR.
In this edition, the allied operations will focus, in addition to the training, on several operational areas, the training on operations to combat terrorist groups, land, airborne, air, naval and CBRN (nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical) decontamination exercises.
Scheduled from June 20 to July 1, 2022 in the regions of Agadir, Tan-Tan, Mahbès, Taroudant, Kénitra and Ben Guérir, the exercise will be "multinational, multi-domain and multifunctional, with the aim of consolidating military cooperation between Morocco and the United States and to lay an additional milestone to the excellent relations between the two countries," concludes the same source.
