Morocco Mayor Arrested in Bribery Sting Over Electricity Permit

Two municipal officials were arrested on Saturday in flagrante delicto of corruption. It is the president of the rural commune of Ouled Aissa, in the province of Taroudant, elected and vice-president of the RNI.
It was following a complaint filed by a resident of the commune, through the green number, that the two local elected officials were arrested. They would have asked him, according to Barlamane.com, to pay the sum of 2,000 dirhams in exchange for a permit to connect his house to the electricity grid. This is how a plan was set up, with the help of the complainant, to arrest the two suspects.
Pending the results of the investigation, conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, the two defendants have been taken into custody.
