Morocco Marks Islamic New Year 1441 as Muharram Begins Sunday

Sunday, September 1 marks the entry into the new Muslim year of the Hegira 1441 (the 1st Moharram) in Morocco.
The 1st Moharram of the new year of the Hegira 1441 corresponds to Sunday, September 1, 2019, according to a press release from the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs, which confirms the observation of the new moon of the month of Moharram at sunset on Saturday, 29 Dhu al-Hijjah 1440 (corresponding to August 31, 2019).
"May God, in this blessed month, shower His favors on HM King Mohammed VI, Amir Al Mouminine, and renew this occasion for the Sovereign in grandeur and glory, for HRH the Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and all the members of the illustrious Royal Family in blessings and for the Moroccan people and the entire Islamic Ummah in progress, prosperity, security and tranquility," it wished.
