The 1st Muharram of the new Hijri year 1442 corresponds to Friday, August 21, 2020, according to a press release from the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.
According to the supervisory ministry, the observation of the new crescent of the first month of the year 1442 was not possible this Wednesday, August 19, 2020.
Subject to excellent atmospheric conditions, the astronomical calculation had predicted the date of Thursday, August 20, 2020.
