Morocco Sets Eid al-Adha Date for August 12, 2019

The date of the Eid Al Adha festival in Morocco is now known. It has just been made official by the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs.
On August 12, 2019, Moroccan Muslims will celebrate Eid Al Adha. The statement from the supervisory ministry indicates that the crescent moon announcing the month of Dou Al Hijja of the year 1440 of the Hegira was not observed on Thursday evening (August 1) and therefore Eid Al Adha will be celebrated on 10 Dou Al Hijja 1440 corresponding to August 12, 2019.
Eid Al Adha, also commonly called Eid el Kébir, marks the end of the pilgrimage to Mecca. The second religious holiday of Muslims after Eid Al Fitr, which marks the end of the month of Ramadan, Muslims sacrifice the sheep.
