Morocco: A luxury building demolished for illegal construction in Bouskoura

It all started with several observations. The initiator of the project exceeded the conditions of the initial authorization. He built a huge building on land classified as agricultural, in flagrant violation of urban planning and land use laws. The luxurious building was erected without respect for the nature of the authorization granted by the commune. The offenses recorded in this case are of "heavy caliber", given the scale of the project and the cost of the building which has exceeded, according to unofficial estimates, millions of dirhams, said official sources to Al3omk. According to these sources, the authorities will work to legally qualify the offenses and impose financial penalties on the person concerned, with the possibility of taking additional measures if it turns out that there are other excesses.

After noting these infractions, the competent authorities had withdrawn the building permit from the project initiator. They had then decided on the demolition of the building. Finally, they informed the project initiator of the decision before starting the demolition operation on Wednesday. Carried out in accordance with the legal procedures in force, this operation took place in the presence of representatives of the local authority, technicians from the urban planning department, as well as elements of the Royal Gendarmerie and the Auxiliary Forces, in order to ensure the execution of the decision under good conditions and to avoid any possible resistance.

This operation comes after the strict instructions given by the governor of the province of Nouaceur to address all forms of illegal construction on agricultural land, particularly in the communes of the province that are experiencing increasing urban pressure due to their proximity to the economic capital Casablanca. It is also in line with the vast provincial campaign against anarchic constructions and urban planning violations led by the authorities of the province of Nouaceur for weeks.

This fight is bearing fruit: several buildings and facilities in violation of the law have already been demolished in order to restore respect for urban planning rules and ensure the balance of the territorial space.
