Morocco: Illegal warehouses razed, influential personalities involved

The Royal Gendarmerie, the auxiliary forces, the authorities, as well as bulldozers and trucks, were mobilized to carry out this operation, which consists of the demolition of warehouses installed without legal authorization. The local authorities of the communes of Mohammedia have received firm instructions to demolish all illegal warehouses, including those belonging to influential personalities.

The provincial authorities have also ordered the local authorities of the commune of Chellalat, where these illegal warehouses are proliferating, to carry out a large-scale demolition operation in order to put an end to this anarchy reigning in several douars. In these areas, agricultural land has been illegally transformed into "warehouses" used for informal economic activities and for the storage of goods.

The campaign was launched after a commission dispatched by the authorities in the commune of Ben Yakhlef transmitted its report to the services of the Ministry of the Interior, revealing the existence of illegal warehouses. These operations are important for the authorities, especially since the railway line dedicated to the regional train towards the Hassan II stadium in Benslimane will cross several axes of the communes of Mohammedia.
