Morocco Likely to Celebrate Eid El Fitr on May 24, Astronomer Predicts

Pending its visual confirmation by the Ministry of Habous, the date of Eid El Fitr 2020 in Morocco, according to the astronomical calculations made by Abdelaziz Kherbouche, is scheduled for May 24.
According to the calculations of the Zij, tables for knowing the position of the stars, the crescent moon of the month of Shawwal 1441 would be very clearly visible on May 23 (29 Ramadan) in the eastern region and the southwest of the country.
But first, an alignment between the sun and the moon, the duration of which allows better visibility of the crescent, will take place on Friday, May 22 at 7:40 p.m., the astronomer specifies.
For Abdelaziz Kherbouch, all Muslim countries, with the exception of those in the Far East, will celebrate Eid el Fitr on the same day this year. The month of Ramadan will thus last 30 days.
