Morocco: a leap into the void to avoid the flagrant offense of adultery

An operation by the Royal Gendarmerie took an unexpected turn when an authority agent, targeted by a complaint for adultery, fled through a window. The events took place after close surveillance by his wife, who had alerted the authorities to the presence of her husband in an apartment.

Due to the legal framework prohibiting home interventions between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., the investigators were forced to wait all night in front of the building, reports Assabah. This delay allowed the civil servant to prepare a risky escape: at the first signs of the intervention at dawn, the man threw himself from the second floor to reach a lower balcony before quickly fleeing in his vehicle.

Although the caïd remains officially untraceable to this day, the investigation is actively continuing under the direction of the public prosecutor’s office. Several hearings have already been conducted on Tuesday, involving the wife, the alleged mistress, and various witnesses present at the scene.

Parallel to this legal procedure, the accused would have transmitted a medical certificate to his administration to justify his absence and would currently be attempting to initiate family mediation. His main objective would be to obtain the withdrawal of his wife’s complaint in order to extinguish the proceedings initiated against him.
