Morocco: A nurse in prison for adultery, her lover released thanks to his wife

The Tétouan public prosecutor’s office has imprisoned a nurse caught in the act of adultery on the complaint of her gendarme husband. The case is causing controversy, as the lover, who is also married, was released thanks to the withdrawal of his wife’s complaint, leaving his mistress alone to face justice.

The police officers carried out a raid on an apartment on the instructions of the public prosecutor’s office. The intervention followed a formal complaint filed by the accused’s husband, a member of the Gendarmerie who had received information about the presence of his wife in the company of another man. The agents surprised the nurse and her colleague inside the apartment.

The judicial procedure has taken a strange turn for the two protagonists. The prosecutor ordered the detention of the nurse pending her appearance, in accordance with the legislation on adultery. As for the nurse, he escaped incarceration. His wife decided to withdraw her complaint, which allowed him to be prosecuted while at liberty.
