Morocco Launches "Welcome Safely" Certification for Tourism Amid COVID-19

"Welcome Safely to Morocco" is the name of the certification of the compliance of tourist accommodation establishments with the Covid-19 control protocols in Morocco. The purpose of this label is to encourage these establishments to maintain constant vigilance in terms of hygiene and health safety, in order to best meet the expectations of an increasingly demanding national and international clientele.
It is the Department of Tourism that has put in place this label based on a health reference framework in line with the expectations of the WHO and the UNWTO, a press release states, specifying that this benchmark indicates the criteria to be met by these establishments to prevent and limit the potential risks of Covid-19 contamination.
However, notes the ONMT, obtaining this certification should not be considered an end in itself. Establishments are required to work to maintain the exemplary level of requirement that allowed them to obtain it, or even to improve it, in order to renew it. To this end, an audit is carried out every 2 months, the same source indicates. All these measures are aimed at establishing Morocco’s confidence as a safe and healthy destination on the global tourism scene.
It is an important step to reassure customers, welcomed the Kenzi Hotels Group, already holding the Welcome Safely and POSICheck certifications. Like them, some hotel groups based in Morocco have already requested and obtained this label, proof of their compliance with the Covid-19 control protocols.
