Morocco Showcases Tourism Offerings at Major Middle East Travel Fair

A Moroccan delegation composed of operators, hoteliers and travel agents is taking part in the activities of the 28th edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM), the leading travel industry event in the Middle East.

The ATM, scheduled to be held from May 16 to 19, sees the presence of the Director General of the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), Adel El Fakir, who is leading the Moroccan delegation to this first major tourism fair organized in person since the beginning of the pandemic, the Office said in a statement.

"It is therefore very important for us to ensure optimal visibility of Morocco among professionals and to clearly convey the message that Morocco continues to prepare to welcome its tourists in the best conditions of health security, as soon as the conditions for resumption are back," said El Fakir.

The office points out that Morocco’s presence at this event is justified by the major economic importance of the United Arab Emirates in the Middle East region. Indeed, travel by Arab nationals generates transactions in the order of 220 billion Dirhams.

At the exhibition site, the ONMT occupies a 220 m² space dedicated to the representation of Morocco and its tourist destinations. Moroccan hotel establishments and travel agencies are also present through an innovative "phygital" concept, combining physical presence for some and digital participation for others.

On this occasion, the head of the Moroccan delegation signed 3 partnerships with major players in the Emirati tourism industry. The first was sealed with Dnata Travel, the oldest travel provider in the United Arab Emirates, part of the Emirates Group. The second agreement signed with Seera Holidays, the leading tour operator in the Gulf region, provides for a multi-channel promotion campaign of the Moroccan destination and the permanent promotion of the Kingdom on the various platforms operated by Seera starting next June and for a period of 10 months, with a target of 14,000 confirmed customers over the period. The third, with Etihad Holidays, a subsidiary of the Etihad Airways group, aims to stimulate demand for the Moroccan destination by setting up offers with preferential rates thanks to vacation packages, particularly to Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech and Agadir.

Ahead of all these agreements, the ONMT is working on its strategy to promote the "Morocco" destination based on actions aimed at positioning the Kingdom as a completely safe destination in terms of health security. This strategy for promoting the Moroccan destination and preparing for the resumption of tourism activity in the Kingdom, both in the domestic and international markets.
