Fez Expands Tourism with $150 Million Investment in New Hotels and Accommodations

The city of Fez believes in its tourism potential. After investing more than 118.9 million dirhams there last year, 39 new tourist accommodation establishments are under construction or study in the spiritual capital, considered the locomotive of tourism in the Fez-Meknes region.

Out of the forty or so projects valued at more than 1.5 billion dirhams, 13 projects including six classified hotels with a capacity of 914 beds, five guest houses (78 beds) and two tourist residences (324 beds) are under construction. This investment, worth a total of more than 894.6 million dirhams, will ultimately provide an additional capacity of 1,316 beds for Fez, which accounts for more than 30% of the number of tourism projects in the region.

In addition, 26 other projects involving 8 hotels (1,592 beds) and 18 guest houses (296 beds) are under study for a total cost of more than 641 million dirhams.

During the year 2020, Fez had benefited from nine tourist accommodation establishments as part of the strengthening of the bed capacity of the spiritual capital of the kingdom, for a total cost of 118.9 million dirhams, increasing the accommodation capacity of Fez by an additional 184 beds.

The provincial capital, the city of Fez has 120 tourist accommodation establishments, including 41 classified hotels, 35 restaurants, 54 travel agencies, 122 tourist transport companies and 483 guides. Its hotel units have a total of more than 8,500 beds, 73% of which are in its hotels.

The Fez-Meknes region has more than 380 classified tourist accommodation establishments, of all categories. The accommodation capacity of these units, which are spread over the nine prefectures and provinces that make up the region, stands at more than 19,000 beds.
