Morocco Launches Toll-Free Hotline for Scarce Thyroid Medication Levothyrox

Patients suffering from thyroid disorders now have a toll-free number to obtain the Levothyrox medication. This drug, used to treat thyroid disorders, is currently difficult to find in Moroccan pharmacies.
The availability of Levothyrox has always been a problem in Morocco. Despite the announcements of the Ministry of Health on August 23 last year, mentioning a significant supply of 2.8 million boxes of Levothyrox, scheduled for October and November, it is still a nightmare for patients to be able to obtain it. A real headache for the government, since the monthly consumption of Levothyrox is around 300,000 to 320,000 boxes.
In a press release, the Ministry of Health explained that it is to address the most urgent needs that it has "decided on an exceptional and temporary basis to make the toll-free number 0801005353 available to patients who are unable to find this drug in pharmacies in the Kingdom, in order to help them in this regard".
Thus, patients are asked to contact the provincial delegations of the Ministry of Health, with their medical records and the prescription, the same press release specifies.
