Morocco’s Largest Union Demands Free COVID-19 Vaccine and Increased Government Communication

The Democratic Confederation of Workers (CDT) has called on the government to be more involved in communication and to make it free. It also denounced the greedy maneuvers of certain private laboratories and clinics towards patients tested positive for the coronavirus.
The government’s silence is worrying the workers’ representatives who are demanding that it communicate more on its communication strategy and on the epidemiological situation, reports Assabah. The CDT is also calling for the free vaccination against Covid, particularly for health personnel and workers in other production and service sectors.
For the union, the ministry must make sufficient quantities of screening tests available to the population in order to put an end to the greed of the analysis laboratories. It has also denounced the behavior of private clinics, which are not very concerned about the health of citizens. These private establishments are more interested in profit, the CDT recalls.
According to the trade unionists, the government alone is responsible for the resurgence of new infections and the saturation of beds in the care units. They also denounced the precarious social situation of the working class and large segments of the population.
