Morocco to Produce Sinopharm Covid-19 Vaccine in New Tangier Facility

A new technical platform dedicated to the manufacture of the new Covid-19 vaccine will be inaugurated in Tangier. The announcement was made by the director of the biotechnology laboratory at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Rabat.
Speaking at the Digital Forum on the Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign, organized by the Association of Engineers of the Higher School of Textile and Clothing Industries, Azzedine El Ibrahimi announced that the choice of the Sinopharm Chinese laboratory vaccine is motivated by the similarity of the viral strains in Morocco and China.
The clinical trials conducted in Morocco have enabled the country to benefit from the know-how and expertise necessary in the manufacture of the Chinese anti-Covid-19 vaccine, a treatment that is in high demand internationally.
Contrary to the usual practices of the pharmaceutical industry, where tests are carried out abroad, the clinical trials of the new molecule, the results of which have been judged very satisfactory, are being conducted for the first time on a sample of 600 Moroccan citizens.
For the time being, adds the professor, the immune reaction of the patients is more than positive, with an excellent increase in neutralizing antibodies and minimal side effects.
