Morocco Finalizes Approval for Chinese COVID-19 Vaccine, Citing Safety and Efficacy

A few days before the reception of the first doses of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine, the Director of Medicines, Bouchra Madah, reassures about the choices made by the Kingdom. The three criteria of vaccine quality, efficacy and safety of use have been met, in accordance with international standards for vaccine development.
The Directorate of Medicines and Pharmacy, its manager informs, is in the final adjustments to authorize the chosen vaccines and thus their marketing and manufacture in Morocco.
Regarding the Chinese vaccine, developed by the Sinopharm laboratory, China was able, in record time, to determine the characteristics and genome of this virus. This information formed a solid database, then used by the World Health Organization (WHO), explained in this interview with Al Ahdath Al Maghribia, the Director of Medicines, adding that the Chinese laboratory used the classical method to manufacture this vaccine, the first doses of which are soon expected in the Kingdom. The vaccine has been the subject of several articles in prestigious international scientific journals, she continues, to justify Morocco’s choice of order.
However, notes the specialist, none of the anti-Covid-19 vaccines ordered by the Kingdom have been registered with the Directorate of Medicines and Pharmacy.
